St. John’s Lutheran Church presents: Parenting the Love and Logic Way™
A 6 – week practical parenting course beginning February 8, 2017
Since 1977, the Love and Logic Institute has been dedicated to making parenting and teaching fun and rewarding, instead of stressful and chaotic. We provide practical tools and techniques that help adults achieve respectful, healthy relationships with their children and help them prepare their kids for the real world. All of our work is based on a psychologically sound parenting and teaching philosophy called Love and Logic.
Back by popular demand, Love and Logic is returning to Vernon for the 10th session. More than 300 families in the Vernon community have been encouraged by this course. The course will be facilitated by Joel Haberstock B.Ed., M.Sc., (Family Minister, Teacher), and Jodie Haberstock, B.Ed. (Teacher, Parent Educator). This program is sponsored by St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Classes will run on Wednesdays, beginning February 8th from 6:15—8 PM at St. John’s Lutheran Church (behind Butcher Boys.) The program costs $40 for a couple and $25 for an individual. This cost includes a parent manual. Extra manuals are available for $15.
St. John's Lutheran Church is well on its way to helping a Refugee Family find a new home here in Vernon, BC. We will keep you updated with the process and our progress and how you can get involved. Together we have raised over $19,000 toward our goal of $30,000. We're 2/3 of the way there!
Thanks to all who supported our Pepperoni fundraiser, as well as the "New Beginnings for a Family - Silent Auction, Talent Show, Cake Auction and Pig Roast".
Attached you will find a document outlining some info on the refugee process and what we need to do to get a family here. Syrian Refugee Crisis Letter

Freedom Session is a healing journey designed to help us move from areas in our lives where we feel stuck, to greater levels of freedom and hope. Among other areas, Freedom Session can help in the areas of co-dependency, excessive guilt feelings, need for control, depression, addictions, and perfectionism. We use a revised version of the 12 steps along with Biblical teaching to give real hope and a clear future. Groups meet on Thursday nights for 20 weeks of Freedom Session, followed by 8 weeks of "Authentic Living" training.
